I found out that continuity editing is the range of shooting and editing methods for creating the impression that there is continuity of space, time, and action so that the film has a logical flow and the viewer can place themselves on the scene.
There were a few things in my film that I could have improved or avoided. The first of these is the lighting that I used. As the male character walked into the house you can barely see into it, because of the lack of light inside. This made the whole scene dark and could have been improved if I had set aside more time to perfect the lighting. I also had a minor problem with the framing, as one of the characters had less of them shown then the other in the shot reverse shot, but this could also be because of the poor lighting that it just looks like that. There was also someone in the background that I did not notice when filming, which can distract the viewer.
From the making of this film I have learnt to ensure that the lighting is perfected before filming and that no external factors will effect it. I have also learnt to make sure that there is nothing in the frame that shouldn't be. I shall also ensure that I have top quality actors, so will therefore hold auditions for the main film.
